Since Extraordinary Portraits, demand for commissions has increased. If you're thinking about one, don't wait to get in touch.

This is not a traditional portrait service

I only take on a limited number of commissions each year, and each one is created in my style – bold, precise, and full of presence. If you’re looking for a generic family portrait or something to match the curtains, this isn’t for you.

But if you want a painting that makes a statement – something raw, striking, and impossible to ignore – let’s talk.

How it works

  • Pricing starts at £1,500 – This covers a 30cm x 40cm head-and-shoulders portrait. Larger sizes are available, with pricing based on scale and complexity.

  • Sizes start at 30cm x 40cm – Most portraits range between 40cm x 50cm to 80cm x 100cm. If you have something bigger in mind, let’s discuss.

  • 50% deposit secures your portrait – The balance is due before delivery. I also offer interest-free payment plans if needed.

  • I paint from photos – You can provide high-res images, or I can take them depending on location.

  • Shipping and collection – Shipping costs depend on size, destination, and insurance. Collection from IP23 is available, as well as free delivery within 30km of that postcode.

What to expect

Commissioning a portrait means trusting the artist – and I take that seriously. I don’t paint to order, and I don’t offer changes or previews, because every decision is made with intention. I also don’t work from sketches – each painting develops directly on the canvas.

When you commission me, you’ll receive a finished, fully realised painting – one that reflects my style, my precision, and my vision. If you love my work, you’ll love your portrait.

FAQ

Can I choose the background, colours, or style?

The painting will be created in my signature style, and I make all artistic decisions about composition and background. However, if you have specific colours you’d like me to consider, let me know – I can usually incorporate them in a way that fits the piece.

Can I provide my own photos?

Yes, as long as they are high-resolution and work for my process. Otherwise, I can shoot them depending on location.

Can I see a sketch or progress shots?

No. I don’t work from sketches, and I don’t share progress images – paintings evolve directly on the canvas.

What if I don’t like the painting?

If you’re drawn to my work, you’ll love your portrait. But the painting is the painting – I don’t do revisions.

Do you paint couples or group portraits?

I focus on solo portraits. For larger sizes, I may consider two-person compositions.

Do paintings come framed?

No, all paintings are unframed unless otherwise discussed. Framing increases shipping costs, so I normally recommend arranging framing upon receipt of the painting.

How long does it take?

Typically 4–8 weeks, depending on my schedule. Let me know if you have a deadline.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit secures your commission. The balance is due before delivery. Payment plans are available, and paintings are delivered once fully paid.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes – shipping costs vary based on size, location, and insurance.
